This Simple Human can is specifically designed for recycle. There is a large hole on the front of the hinged lid, it has a cute little dial to show purpose of the bin (glass, plastic, etc.), and they are stackable so you could have one for different types of material. Lucky for me I don't have to sort my items for collection, so I only need one. I love it, it gets the cans/bottles off the counter without running out to the bin 8 time a day.

We have two simple human trashcans, one for trash and one for recycling. It definitely makes me stay (nearly) sane because I hate crap on the counters.
