Re-shelving

While I'm excited to have my family in town to celebrate Thanksgiving...I'm also pleased it's given us motivation to finish up house projects.

When we first looked at this house, I loved the little alcoves under the dormers.  As soon as we left the showing I had a plan for them.  They are split into two small nooks- one perfect for a small sitting area and another for bookshelves.  Together they are my library and booknook!

The area for the shelves are hard to photography- it is a long, narrow space with a sharply slanted ceiling, shutter doors hiding storage space, and column in the center.

John wanted to to built-in shelves.  It was my first staining project- simpler than I expected.

He started the project on Easter weekend....tonight it is finished!  That is 7 months people!!!  I'm so happy to have my books and DVDs unpacked.
Although I still need to style and accessorize it...someday.

The right side, closest to the stairs, holds all our DVDs, video games, yearbooks, home and garden books and John's business books.

The far bookshelves, the right side, holds all our other books. (minus craft books which live in my craft room)

How do you store your books?  Are you taking on or finishing any projects for the holidays?

How very nicely organized. I would refudiate though that 7 months is too long for built in cabinets while remodeling a kitchen.

It looks fantastic! We have ongoing projects - company is always here in the middle of them!

Looks great - and sometimes it takes visitors coming to get that kick in the butt to finish a project! Lord knows I need it.

I love John's comment. Crack me up. And also confuses me - I had to get out the dictionary to figure out what refudiate meant. ;)

I need to figure out books. Many of mine are still in boxes and the rest look like hell. Next house - it's a project.
