The End Of The Book

I have a long row of cookbooks on top of my low kitchen hutch, so many in fact they kept toppling over.   Clearly time for a book-end....have you ever been book-end shopping? Cute ones aren't easy to find, and there are even fewer cute ones- especially since I wanted something kitchen-fitting.

A quick etsy search inspired me to create this subway bookend.
The bookend was created from some heavy-ish weight fabric, I had laying around, filled with 5 bags of dried beans.  Using my silhouette machine, "I" cut out 10 food/cooking related words in all different fonts from freezer paper.

After playing around with the placement for awhile, I ironed the words down.  The next step was to the fastest and easiest- painting.

Finished product-

How do you keep your books upright?

This is really cute! I love the words, since it's in your kitchen.

I don't really have enough books to need book ends but my in-laws got me pug bookends from Anthropologie for Christmas. They are adorable.
