Ready to Hang by the Chimney

The first Christmas John and I lived together, also Chester's frist Christmas and the Christmas we got engaged, I made us Christmas stockings.

When my parents got married my Mom made by Dad a stocking.  When my sister and I were born, she handcrafted stockings for us too.  So, I guess it is kind of a tradition.

Dad, Mom, Sarah, Leigh, John, Cody, Darbi and Chester- yes puppies get their own stockings

I like the stockings I created.  However, I was not thrilled about carting them back and forth to CT each winter.  While we were in CT I sewed new "Ct" stockings for John and Chester.

This project also gave me the opportunity to break out the new sewing machine (brother cs6000i)  my in-laws gifted me for my birthday (which was back in August). This machine is major upgrade from my home-ec class basic, this machine includes many decorative stitches.  I played around with the different stitches to write the names and add detail.  Not horrible for my first attempt.

What kind of stockings do you hang with care?

The stockings are my kiddos favorite Christmas decorations (well, one of them!) They love the personalization and that it's all theirs. Yours turned out super cute!
