You know we've spent the spring re-doing our front yard, trying to interject some curb appeal. One thing we really wanted was a new door.
You can see the white paint is dingy, the doorknob was a unclassy mix of old and new. It isn't noticeable in this photo but the glass was a pebble pattern in lemon-lime color. I also wasn't a fan of the doorknocker. But new doors are pricey and being that our house is 60 years old, nothing is flush so it would require a custom job.
Rather than shelling out the bucks, I Leigh-bellished the door. I wanted a fun, funky color- lime, purple, peacock, teal....but I was vetoed.
The door, surprisingly, required 4 coats of high-gloss black paint.
But the Leigh-bellishment didn't stop there.
It is very "in" to have your house number on the door but ours in on the mailbox. Others have "welcome" on their door, but we aren't that formal so I used my silhouette to cut "hi".
Little JMU stick people, the dog doesn't look like Chester but better than nothing.
Maybe I'll change the "hi" to a fun color??
I think I'm going to paint the pots white
What color is your door?

I really love the black door, Leigh! Just pops! I've been super attracted to black doors lately, so this is just in time.
leigh...you should for sure change the color of hi...
may not look like him but has the howl down -toots
Looks great Leigh! I'm planning on painting my front door black as well, so this is an inspiration.
No, don't paint the pots white! If you want more white, do it with the flowers. Or, paint the pots black and add bright color with the flowers. Just my two cents.
I love the Hi but not as much as I love the JMU DUUUUUUUKES. What a charming idea!
SO very cute and the black looks so much better than the white! Love it!
I am loving the black door! I would love to do something fun with our door color, but for now our house is a funky shade of green and I can't come up with anything that I love to go with it. Sigh....
As you well know, mine is heinous green. I envy your black door. I need to get that started. I'll K-bellish the bejeezus out of it!
When are you coming home?

oooh, I like the black pot idea-or the color of Nicole's-I think it looks sassy with the brick.
Love the black door!! Ours is a dark green.
